Hyundai India to launch 6 new electric vehicles by 2028, invest Rs 4,000 crore towards expansion
Hyundai will work towards the development of a concrete BEV roadmap that will breathe life into the electrification ecosystem in India, focusing on localization of manufacturing synergies for BEVs.
The move shows the South Korean carmaker’s commitment towards India and its commitment towards expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in the country, which consists of only the Hyundai Kona Electric.
S S Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “Hyundai has been at the forefront of the electric mobility revolution in India, with the introduction of India’s 1st Electric SUV - KONA Electric in 2019.
Hyundai will also introduce these BEVs in different body styles, including an SUV body shape by 2028, with multiple battery packs that include a large battery capacity up to 77.4 kWh, as well as 2WD/ 4WD capabilities.
Hyundai will develop its future electric vehicles that comprise chassis that include the battery, motor, and electric power systems.
